Our Drinks

We have a wide selection of ales which we regularly change (albeit Langport Bitter, Independence and Butcombe seem to have acquired squatter’s rights on the bar). We pour arguably the best pint of Guinness this side of St James Gate.

We also stock a range of lagers.

It wouldn’t be Somerset if we didn’t stock a range of ciders be they sweet, dry, mainstream or craft.  The first barrel of Mallets, Cider of the Gods was served here.

Ask at the bar about our spirit’s selection (18 types of gin and counting – did we mention we are small?) or to see our wine list.

We also have a wide ranging selection of bottled beers, ciders and soft drinks.

Our Wines

White Wines

Garganega/Pinot Grigio, DOC Garda - Italy

This wine is made on the slopes over looking Lake Garda in Northern Italy. A clever blend of Pinot Grigio and Garganega.

Sauvignon Blanc, Pasquiers, Vin de Pays d’Oc - France

A blend of Sauvignon (80%) and Vermentino (20%). The Vermentino softens the Sauvignon to produce a very drinkable glass of wine.

Chenin Blanc/Viognier, Percheron, Western Cape - South Africa

An unusual blend of Chenin Blanc and Viognier from the Western Cape in South Africa, but it works.

Chardonnay, Soldiers Block, Victoria - Australia

100% Chardonnay, but no oak in sight. This wine is medium in weight but with a lovely limey, zingeness to the palate.

Sauvignon Blanc, The Cloud Factory, Marlborough - New Zealand

All you want from Kiwi Sauvignon. Delicious as a straight glass of wine or with seafood and white meat dishes.

Picpoul de Pinet, Baron de Badassiere, Languedoc - France

Picpoul is the grape variety and in French it means ‘lip stinger’, but this wine is far from that. Soft and smooth, a very easy white wine.

Gavi ‘La Battistina’, Gavi, Piedmont - Italy

Made from the Cortese grape in Piedmont, North West Italy. This wine has great structure. Look forward to the honey twist at the back of the palate.

Sparkling Wines

Prosecco, Le Dolci Colline - Italy - 20cl

A mini version of the wine below.

Prosecco, Le Dolci Colline - Italy

A delicious Prosecco from North East Italy. Made 100% from the Glera grape.

Blanquette de Limoux 'Le Moulin', Domaine Laurens. Languedoc - France

Made in the same way as Champagne and has all the flavours and character you expect from a Champagne.

Piper Heidsieck Champagne - France

A classic blend of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, with a little bit of Pinot Meunier - if you want to celebrate this is the wine.

Rosé Wines

Les Oliviers Rose, Vin de Pays d’Oc - France

A simple, but delicious rosé, made with the Cinsault and Grenache grapes where is the sunshine?!

White Zinfandel, Burlesque, California - USA

If you like your rosé slightly sweeter, this is the wine for you.

Gris Marin Rose, Sable de Camargue - France

This delicious pale pink rosé, comes from Sable de Camargue which is on the opposite side of the  Rhone Valley from Provence.

Red Wines

Cabernet Sauvignon, Sierra Grande, Central Valley - Chile

A lush fruit driven Cabernet from the Central Valley in Chile.

Merlot, Les Oliviers, Vin de Pays d’Oc - France

Made mainly with the Merlot grape, but a bit of Mouvedre is added to give the wine more backbone and structure.

Old Vine Cinsault, Percheron, Western Cape - South Africa

These Cinsault vines are a minimum of 30 years old, which makes a wine that is light in colour but has bags and bags of upfront fruit and deep luscious flavours.

Shiraz, Soldiers Block, Victoria - Australia

Named after the blocks of land that were given to returning WW1 soldiers. Some started growing vines on these blocks and they remain there to this day.

Malbec ‘The Bird’, Showdown, California - USA

Yes Malbec not from Argentina, but just as good.  Perfect with all red meats.

Rioja (organic), Artesa - Spain

Very well made 100% organic Rioja. The grape is Tempranillo and with the balance of oak and fruit this wine is perfect with most richer dishes.

I Muri’ Primitivo, Vigneti del Salento, Puglia - Italy

From the heal of Italy, this Primitivo (Zinfandel) is just so well balanced, with superb levels of upfront fruit and soft easy tannins.
